Labour Party conferences are the focal point for the party’s policy-making.
It’s here where elected representatives and members at all levels of the party, debate and decide Labour’s policy agenda and seek to shape Labour’s vision for Britain.
Party members participate in the shaping of Labour’s policy throughout the year through the Partnership in Power process. Every year the National Policy Forum presents policy documents to conference which shape the debate all week. Delegates also have the opportunity to attend seminars to debate specific policy areas with ministers.
Delegates are nominated to represent all sections of the Labour Party and ensure that from the grass roots up a full spectrum of views and opinions are heard, from the trade unions to local constituencies.
Our conferences constitute far more than a forum for delegates. They provide an exciting place for a whole host of people to get together and discuss the party’s policies and priorities, attend seminars and training events, fringe events, network and exchange best practice experiences and influence policy thinking.
Labour Party Annual Conference 2008 will take place in Manchester. To ensure delegates are able to fully debate the big policy challenges facing Britain in depth, today and in the future, the National Executive Committee agreed that the timetable for conference be extended. Conference will now start on Saturday, 20 September and conclude on Wednesday, 24 September.
